Hello Parents,

Here are this week’s updates:

1. BOOKS, BOOKS, BOOKS!
All Home Reading Books are due back to school by tomorrow –  June 9th
All Library Books are due back to school by next Friday – June 16th

2. Library Message from Mrs. Branje – Dear Families, I’d like to take this time to thank you all for a wonderful year in the library. Your child(ren) enjoyed regular visits to the library as well as participating in many different reading programs. Thank you parents for helping to foster a love of reading in your child(ren). I encourage everyone to take advantage of the many programs that are offered at Kitchener Public Library over the summer. Check out their website for programs and events: http://www.kpl.org/ .  We are looking forward to a visit from the KPL later this month.  Our students will have a chance to hear more about their summer programs.  Have a wonderful summer and happy reading!    Mrs. Branje, Library Clerk

3. Me to We – 5 Days of Canada – Due to overwhelming support for our Five Days of Freedom campaign in February, the Williamsburg Me to We Club is celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday with Five Days of Canada!  Daily events will take place from June 12 to the 16. Money raised will be divided between purchasing additional technology for the school and supporting The Canadian Red Cross Refugee Program. All of the events are voluntary and students/families are encouraged to support as many as they wish.

Here is the daily event list:

– Monday June 12th – Freezie Day for anyone who has pre-ordered.  All freezie orders are due by today.  Cost is $2 per freezie and they will be served at 2nd Nutrition Break
Tuesday June 13th – Candy Jar Guessing – 5 guesses for $1 (Canada M and M’s, Maple leaf cookies, Red and white candy, non-food Canada items)
Wednesday June 14th – Made in Canada Craft Sale – all items $2 or less (Felt Shopkins, Painted Stones, Perler Beads, Bookmarks, Origami, Canada Tattoos)
Thursday June 15th – Chew gum and wear Canada hat and/or apparel – $1
– Friday June 16th – Basket Raffle – 2 tickets for $1

We will be creating a mural in the front hallway to show why we are proud to be Canadian. Please send in a copy of your child(ren) or your family doing something truly Canadian. Some examples are canoeing, sitting around a campfire, at a beach, watching a hockey game, eating pancakes/poutine/nanaimo bars etc. In addition to the photos, students will be completing statements about why they are proud to be Canadian, which will help complete the mural. For a donation of $5 or more your child can write their name and a message to add to our wall. Donations can be labelled with your child’s name and sent to the school.

Thanks for helping us celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday and for supporting The Red Cross Refugee Program and technology at Williamsburg!
