Hello Parents,
To all of our new and returning families – welcome to the weekly update! This update comes out each Thursday and includes school-wide updates. You will find info about upcoming events and dates. We are glad to you have you with us!
We look forward to seeing you TONIGHT for our Meet the Teacher night from 6:00 to 7:00 pm.
Here are this week’s updates:
1. Upcoming Dates to Note:
– September 7 – Meet the Teacher Night from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm
– September 8 – First Day Paperwork and $6 Planner Money Due
– September 8 – 10th Anniversary T-Shirt Orders Due
– September 21 – 10th Anniversary Open House from 3:45 to 4:45 pm followed by the Fun Fair and Food Trucks from 5:00 to 7:00 pm
– September 22 – PA Day – No School for Students
– September 25 – First School Council Meeting (6:30pm in the Library)
– September 28 – Picture Day for Kindergarten Students and Room 10
– September 28 – Terry Fox Run
– September 29 – Picture Day for Grades 1 to 6 Students
2. Stay Connected!
– Provide us your email address! – The Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) continues to be compliant with Canada’s anti-spam legislation, which prohibits the sending of unsolicited email messages without consent. We would like to have the option of communicating with you through email, so please sign up at secure.wrdsb.ca/subscribe. You will need to know your child’s Ontario Education Number (OEN). The OEN number can be obtained from your child’s report card. If your child is new to Kindergarten and you do not know their OEN number, information will be sent shortly by the school, once a number has been assigned. Please note: If you gave us your email address last year, there is no need for you to provide it again.
– Williamsburg Website – Keep Up to Date! – Follow any new posts that get added to the Williamsburg website by going to http://wlm.wrdsb.ca/, scroll to the bottom of the page and add your email address in the box under “Get News From This Website” and click Submit
3. Attendance: Please call our NEW Attendance Line at 519-742-1848 and Press 1 to update us anytime your child is absent or late. The Attendance Line is available 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. If your child is being picked up for an appointment throughout the school day, please inform both the teacher and the office. This allows us to have your child waiting for your arrival in the office.
4. School Council – Join us for our first School Council Meeting of the year on Monday, September 25st at 6:30pm in the Library. Nomination forms to run for an elected position were sent home on Tuesday. Please return those forms to the office by September 13 if you are interested in an executive role. We would love to have new members – all are welcome to join us.
5. Drop Off and Pick Up – We encourage parents to walk children to school as we have a shortage of parking spots. If you do drive your children to school, please remember that the school parking lot is for staff and daycare parking only. There is no parking on Commonwealth Crescent and the manager of Goodlife has also asked that parents not use their lot for pick up and drop offs. Please look for space on other side streets where parking is permitted.
6. Pizza and Cookies – We will begin the online ordering process for Pizza and Cookies on School-Day at the end of September. Stay tuned for more information.
7. School Info in Planner – Please read the front 8 pages of your child’s planner for important Williamsburg information. Once you have read the pages, please sign the front page in the space provided.
