2. Time Change – Fall Back – Don’t forget to turn your clocks back one hour on Saturday night for the “Fall Time Change.”

3. HERO GEM Update – November’s HERO GEM trait is GRATITUDE! “At Williamsburg we show gratitude. We thank others for who they are and what they do. We show appreciation so that everyone feels respected and valued.”

4. Progress Reports – On November 12th, you will be receiving progress report(s) for your child(ren). The progress report is an opportunity for teachers to reflect on how your child is progressing through the first 10 weeks of their curriculum. Term 1 achievement reports will be sent home in February and will include marks as well as teacher comments. Please review your child’s report and celebrate their many accomplishments and set goals with them in the areas where they can improve.

Your child’s teacher will be sending a parent-teacher conference form home. Please be sure to complete and return the form as indicated.

4. Scholastic Book Fair – Please take note of the dates for our upcoming annual Scholastic Book Fair. It will be taking place on Tuesday, November 13th and Wednesday, November 14th from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm and on Thursday, November 15th from 8:30 am to 7:00 pm in the library. Please mark this exciting literary event on your calendars. This is a great opportunity to shop for the holidays while promoting reading and raising money for our school library.

Volunteers are important part of running our fair and we still have a great need for them! If you are available to help out with the Book Fair, please contact me at nelita_branje@wrdsb.ca. High school students needing volunteer hours are also welcome to help out at the book fair.

I look forward to seeing everyone at our Book Fair. Until then, happy reading! Mrs. Branje, Library Clerk

5. Poppies for Remembrance Day – Canadians are fiercely proud of our Veterans… and during the period leading up to Remembrance Day, millions of Canadians wear a Poppy as a symbol of national pride and respect, a visual pledge to never forget.

Students at Williamsburg will receive a poppy sticker to wear on Friday, November 9th. During the Poppy Campaign, thousands of Legion members from coast to coast to coast volunteer their time to distribute poppies and raise millions that will support Veterans and their families in need. While Poppies are distributed freely, the Legion truly appreciates the generous donations to the Poppy Fund in support of serving and retired Veterans and their families.

Donations to the Poppy Fund are welcome to be sent into school with your child. Thank you for wearing a Poppy and supporting Canada’s Veterans.

6. Rainy Days – A reminder to parents that our entry procedures are the same on rainy days. Students enter the school on their own, through their regular doors. If students are late, they must come to the office to sign in and get a late slip. Thanks for your help with this.
