Hello Parents,

Here are this week’s updates:

1. Upcoming Dates to Note

  • January 31 – February Pizza/Cookie Orders and Payments Due
  • February 14 – Red/White/Pink Day
  • February 15 – Report Cards Go Home
  • February 18 – Family Day Holiday
  • February 21 to 28 – March Pizza/Cookie Orders Open on School-Day
  • February 25 – School Council Meeting at 6 pm in the Library
  • February 27 and 28 – Dental Screening for JK, SK and Grade 2 Students

2. Last Call for FEBRUARY Pizza/Cookie Orders: Pizza/Cookie orders for each Thursday in February are due by today on School-Day. No late orders will be accepted. Also a reminder that any cash payments must be submitted in exact change to the office by 3:30 today. Unpaid orders cannot be processed. You are welcome to call the school office if you have any questions – 519-742-1848.

3. Dental Screening – Students in JK, SK and Grade 2, as well as any students identified in previous school years, will be screened by a Registered Dental Hygienist on February 27 and 28 at Williamsburg. Watch for a letter that will be coming home early next week from the Region of Waterloo about Dental Screening. It is a paper letter that will be sent home with all of our students.

4. Safe Arrival and Dismissal – A reminder to please call or email our Attendance Line prior to 9:00 a.m. anytime your child will be absent or late for school. Your updates help us make sure that everyone is safe at the beginning of the school day. This is especially important on poor weather days!

We encourage all of our students to walk to school. If you must drive your children to or from school, please be sure to do so in a safe manner. Please note that there is no stopping on Commonwealth Crescent for pick up or drop off. The parking lot is for staff and visitors and for safety reasons, students are not to be dropped off or picked up in the parking lot. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with this procedure. Be sure that your child knows where to meet you at the end of the day and that he/she knows to go to the office if you are late.

5. Kindergarten Registration for NEW JK/SK Students – Kindergarten registration for children born in 2014/2015 is now open online – wlm.wrdsb.ca/2019/01/14/kindergarten-registration-for-children-born-in-2014-and-2015/ . If your child currently attends Williamsburg Public School in JK, there is no need to register for SK as this happens automatically at the school level. Please share this information with your friends and neighbours in our school community. If you have any questions about the registration process for Kindergarten please, do not hesitate to call the Office at 519-742-1848 x3.

6. HERO GEM UPDATE – We continue to work on building optimism at Williamsburg. We hope you will do the same at home. Take some time to talk as a family about the good things that are happening around you. You may also want to each take a turn to talk about what you are optimistic to do in the future.
