The Safe Welcome Program is coming to ALL Waterloo Region District Schools

Williamsburg Public School is preparing for the arrival of our Safe Welcome Program.
In December 2012, the Provincial Government announced its intention to enhance security measures in elementary schools across Ontario. The Safe Welcome initiative involves the locking of all doors in elementary schools. All visitors (parents, vendors, central Board staff) to elementary schools will access the main front doors to the school using an intercom system. The system will integrate the needs of before/after school programs, child care locations and those sites with portables.

As we begin to prepare for the Safe Welcome Program it is our goal to clearly communicate with our school community the necessary procedures and timelines for implementation.

To prepare your family for this change, we recommend the following:safe and secure schools

  • Practice not entering or exiting through the sliding doors off the parking lot
  • Ensure your child is on time for the beginning of the day
  • Lunches, water bottles, homework etc., need to be packed for school in the morning
  • Inform the office and teacher in advance if your child has an appointment.

Please contact the school if you have questions regarding the Safe Welcome Program.
