The Williamsburg grade 4’s visited the Rockwood Conservation Area on the 19 and 20th of June. Rockwood is one of the GRCA’s oldest and most scenic parks. Its unique geology – which includes caves and glacial potholes – make it a unique location for special programs such as caving and pond studies. The Rockwood caves were formed by melting glaciers. The meltwater form the glacier, wore away the softer stone and created cracks in the rock. These cracks turned into tunnels and then over the centuries, became caves. The park is open during the summer for families to visit.
