Hello Parents,
To all of our new and returning Williamsburg families – welcome to the weekly update! If you haven’t already done so, be sure to register on School-Day to receive the weekly update directly to your email in-box.)
This update comes out each Thursday and includes school-wide updates. You will find info about upcoming events and dates. We are glad to you have you with us!
Here are this week’s updates:
1. Upcoming Dates to Note:
– September 9 – First Day Paperwork and Planner $5 Due Today
– September 13 – Meet the Teacher Night from 6:30 to 7:30pm
– September 22 – Terry Fox Run – Send a Toonie ($2) for Terry
– September 23 – PA Day – No School for Students
– September 26 – First School Council Meeting (6:30pm in the Library)
– September 29 – Picture Day for Kindergarten Students and Sibling Photos
– September 30 – Picture Day for Grades 1 to 6 Students
2. Stay Connected!
– Provide us your email address!
The Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) continues to be compliant with Canada’s anti-spam legislation, which prohibits the sending of unsolicited email messages without consent. We would like to have the option of communicating with you through email, so please sign up at secure.wrdsb.ca/subscribe. You will need to know your child’s Ontario Education Number (OEN). The OEN number can be obtained from your child’s report card. If your child is new to Kindergarten and you do not know their OEN number, information will be sent shortly by the school, once a number has been assigned. Please note: If you gave us your email address last year, there is no need for you to provide it again.

Follow any new posts that get added to the Williamsburg website by going to http://wlm.wrdsb.ca/, scroll to the bottom of the page and add your email address in the box under “Get News From This Website” and click Submit
3. Attendance: Please call our Attendance Line (519-570-8146 x 3766#) and update us anytime your child is absent. The Attendance Line is available 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. If your child is being picked up for an appointment throughout the school day, please inform both the teacher and the office. This allows us to have your child waiting for your arrival in the office.
4. School Council
Join us for our first School Council Meeting of the year on Monday, September 26st at 6:30pm in the Library. Nomination forms to run for an elected position were sent home on Tuesday. Please return those forms to the office if you are interested in an executive role. We would love to have new members – all are welcome to join us.
5. Sprit Wear (School T-shirts and Shorts)
We are selling Spirit Wear this year! Student samples will be available on Meet the Teacher Night (September 13) for viewing and sizing. A table will be located outside of Room 4 near the front door of the school. Parents can order and pay cash for Spirit Wear on Meet the Teacher Night. All other orders can be placed on School-Day from September 13 through September 21.
6. Drop Off and Pick Up
We encourage parents to walk children to school as we have a shortage of parking spots. If you do drive your children to school, please remember that the school parking lot is for staff and daycare parking only. There is no parking on Commonwealth Crescent and the manager of Goodlife has also asked that parents not use their lot for pick up and drop offs. Please look for space on other side streets where parking is permitted.
7. Pizza and Cookies
We will begin the online ordering process for Pizza and Cookies at the end of September. Stay tuned for more information.
