4. School Council Popcorn Fundraiser

Popcorn orders will be sent home with students on Wednesday, May 3rd.  If you placed a large order please ensure you are available to help your child bring your popcorn home.  (Due to the large volume of orders, some students may get their orders on Thursday, May 4th.) Stay tuned for an update on how much money we raised from this fundraiser!

5. Jump to Pump

On Friday, May 12, 2017 Williamsburg students will be taking part in our annual Jump 2 Pump event.  Everyone is being asked to bring in a toonie to support the Heart and Stroke Foundation. As caring community members, we want to do our part to support such a worthy cause and at the same time promote a healthy lifestyle.  Therefore, students will be jumping during physical education classes on our jump day.  Thank you for your continued support!

6. Dress Code Reminder

As the weather gets warmer, it is a good time to review our Dress Code expectations at Williamsburg.  We ask that students dress appropriately for school in age appropriate clothing that is complementary to the student’s physical age of development.  See page 5 of our student planners for a full description of Dress Code expectations.

7. Creating Classes for September

In preparation for next year’s classes, teachers from each grade will be meeting with Special Education Staff and Administration to consider the placement of each child based on a combination of the following criteria:

  • Academic level
  • Learning Skills and Work Habits
  • Social/emotional levels of each student
  • Relationships that exist between our students
  • Balancing the special needs of students in each classroom

If you feel there are specific learning considerations that we should be addressing when making class placements, please feel free to submit them, in writing, and give them to Ms. Noonan by May 1st.  Please note that parent requests for a specific teacher will NOT be considered.

8. Earth Day Event – Saturday, April 29th

The Kitchener Natural Areas Program (KNAP) is holding an Earth Day event on Saturday, April 29th from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at Huron Natural Area – 801 Trillium Drive, Kitchener.  Activities feature hands-on educational activities that include: tree-planting, live bird demonstrations and a peek into the work the city has been doing to develop a strategy for a sustainable urban forest.  It’s also your chance to meet Kitchener’s artist-in-residence, Julie Sperling. #KitEarthDay.  More information about Earth Day events in Kitchener can be found by visiting http://kitchener.ca/en/livinginkitchener/EarthDay.asp
