3. Progress Reports – On November 13th, you will be receiving progress report(s) for your child(ren). The progress report is an opportunity for teachers to reflect on how your child is progressing through the first 10 weeks of their curriculum. Term 1 achievement reports will be sent home in February and will include marks as well as teacher comments. Please review your child’s report and celebrate their many accomplishments and set goals with them in the areas where they can improve.
Your child’s teacher will be sending a parent-teacher conference form. Please be sure to complete and return the form as indicated.
4. Random Act of Kindness Day – November 3th is Random Act of Kindness Day. In our crazy, scheduled worlds, we don’t always take the time to slow down and reflect on how fortunate we are to live in a community such as ours. Random Act of Kindness Day is an opportunity to do something kind for someone else, to appreciate fellow citizens and for community building – it’s NOT about fundraising or giving money – just a day to celebrate kindness. Simple acts of kindness are endless; buy someone a coffee, congratulate someone on a job well done, offer to drive someone to an appointment, rake leaves for a neighbour or visit a seniors centre. Here are some ideas for kids: hold the door open for someone, do a chore for someone without them knowing, tell a joke, return someone’s cart at the store, leave a letter in a library book, feed the birds, leave happy notes around town….and the list goes on!
5. School Council Wintergreen Fundraiser – The Wintergreen Fundraiser is underway. Please let us know if you did not receive a fundraiser order form and envelope home with your oldest child. Thanks in advance for your help in supporting our Williamsburg School Council fundraising initiatives.
6. Poppies for Remembrance Day – Canadians are fiercely proud of our Veterans… and during the period leading up to Remembrance Day, millions of Canadians wear a Poppy as a symbol of national pride and respect, a visual pledge to never forget.
Students at Williamsburg will receive a poppy to wear on Friday, November 10th. During the Poppy Campaign, thousands of Legion members from coast to coast to coast volunteer their time to distribute poppies and raise millions that will support Veterans and their families in need. While Poppies are distributed freely, the Legion truly appreciates the generous donations to the Poppy Fund in support of serving and retired Veterans and their families.
Donations to the Poppy Fund are welcome to be sent into school with your child. Thank you for wearing a Poppy and supporting Canada’s Veterans.
7. No Dogs on School Property – A reminder to all Williamsburg families that dogs are not allowed on our school property before, during and after school hours. While we love dogs, and understand that you want to exercise your pet, we must not run the risk of children being injured on our property. Thank you for complying with this important rule.
