Hello Parents,

1. Remembrance Day – We are asking our staff and students to wear RED to school on Friday in honour of Remembrance Day.  Students at Williamsburg will receive a poppy to wear on November 10th and we will take time to honour and remember our veterans. Donations to the Poppy Fund are welcome to be sent into school with your child. Thank you for wearing a Poppy and supporting Canada’s Veterans.

2. Progress Reports  – Progress Reports for all students will go home on Monday, November 13th. Parents, if you haven’t done so already, you can let your child’s teacher know if you would like to set up a parent teacher conference by writing a note in the planner.

3. Scholastic Book Fair – November 14 to 16 – Join us in the Library at Williamsburg for our Book Fair:

  • November 14 and 15 from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
  • November 16 from 8:30 am to 7:30 pm

4. PD Day – November 17 – Friday, November 17th is a PD Day which means no school for students. Staff will be taking part in at PD session in the morning and will be using the afternoon for Parent Teacher Conferences.

5. School Council Updates

–  Wintergreen Fundraiser – All Wintergreen and Gift Card orders for our School Council Fundraiser are due by Monday, November 13th.  The money generated through this fundraiser will go towards items like technology, school yard enhancements, planners, field trips and more! Your participation in this sale, whether large or small, is greatly appreciated!

– Used Winter Clothing/Gear Drive – Did your kids outgrow last year’s winter clothes and you still have it kicking around the house? Did you know that there are schools in our district that can use donated, good condition winter clothes to give to kids/families that are otherwise unable to provide winter clothing to keep kids warm this winter? Here’s how we at Williamsburg Public School can help:

If you have good condition winter gear (hats, mitts, boots, snow pants, coats) that your child has out grown please bring them in to the school on November 27th and 28th during the Wintergreen Fundraiser Pick-up.  If you are not picking up a wingergreen order, winter gear can be dropped off at the office on November 27th and 28th.  They will then be taken to a local school that will put them to good use keeping kids and families warm this winter.

Donation items:

  • Kids winter wear of all sizes including; hats, mitts, boots, snow pants and coats
  • Adult winter wear (Some of the grade 6-8 students are in adult sizes including: hats, mitts, boots, snow pants and coats)

** Please note: This is not a request to go buy extra things but instead to find a good home for items your family no longer needs. All donations will be given to a local school that has a number of students in need of warm winter wear.
