Hello Parents,

Here are this week’s updates:

1. PD Day – Friday, September 21 – Tomorrow is a Professional Development (PD) Day which means no school for students.

2. Pizza/Cookie Orders for October due by Thursday, September 27th – We are pleased to let you know that Pizza/Cookie Days are starting up again! Our first Pizza/Cookie Day is on Thursday, October 4th. Pizza/Cookies are served at 1st Nutrition Break each Thursday for those students who have pre-ordered and pre-paid. Orders for October 4, 11, 18 and 25 will be taken on School-Day from today until Thursday, September 27th. No late orders will be accepted. A pink info form was sent home with each student outlining all the Pizza/Cookie details. Pricing for 2018-19 is the same as last year: $1.50/pizza slice or $1.00/cookie. See bottom of this note for step by step instructions for ordering.

3. Student Planner Scavenger Hunt Winners (Grades 1 to 6) – Congratulations to the 26 students whose names were drawn to win a free piece of pizza! Families have been notified by email if their child’s name was drawn. You are all great planner sleuths!

4. Terry Fox Run – September 27th – Students are asked to bring in a toonie ($2) for Terry in support of cancer research on Thursday, September 27th. The class that raises the most money wins a pizza party!

5. Photo Day – September 28th – Our school photo day is fast approaching! Please remember to mark September 28th on your calendar. Individual photos are being taken that day. (Class group photos will be taken in the spring.)

  • What to wear: For best results, we recommend wearing bright, solid coloured clothing, but do not wear green
  • You will receive a portrait pass code a few weeks after photos are taken and can order packages at that time. There are no orders being taken on photo day.
  • On-line Ordering: You can view your child’s photos on over 40 different backgrounds before ordering after receiving your portrait pass code.
  • If you wish to get email notifications from Edge Imaging about photo day, go to https://photoday.edgeimaging.ca/and enter our school code: BUG.

6. New Bell and End of Day Reminders – Please remember that the new Junior Circuit is closed for 15 minutes after school from 3:20 to 3:35 pm. This allows 15 minutes for our staff to ensure that all children safely leave the school property to walk home. A bell will ring at 3:35 pm to indicate that supervision outside has ended. Any student that has a parent with them can then play on the Junior Circuit, BUT it is important to note that no school staff will be present to supervise after that time.

7. Public Health Update – Parents, please remember to keep your child’s immunization records up-to-date with Public Health. How to provide your records:

The annual enforcement of the Immunization of School Pupils Act (ISPA) helps to keep our students and schools healthy. Immunization protects children from many diseases that are easily spread in schools.   Public Health will mail letters to those students with incomplete records. If you receive a letter, please arrange a visit with your health care provider to assess and update your child’s immunizations, and contact Public Health to update your child’s record or to place a legal exemption on file.

~ How-To-Order Guide for Pizza/Cookies:

  • Log-in to School-Day (https://www.school-day.com/)
  • Click Products at the top of your Dashboard and select October 2018 – Pizza Orders and/or October 2018 – Cookies Orders
  • Order Pizza and/or Cookies as you wish adding the items to your cart. Use the drop-down boxes to select the child, week and topping you wish to order. When you are ready to complete your order, click My Cart
  • Click Check Out to pay on-line and complete the payment process
  • If you prefer to pay by cash, click Will Pay By Cash. Print receipt or make note of the Order Number and send to school with your payment by the order deadline date. Your order is not complete until payment is received at school
