Hello Parents,

Here are this week’s updates:

1. PD Day on Friday – April 12th is a PD Day which means no school for students.

2. Upcoming Dates to Note:

  • April 12 – PD Day – No school for students
  • April 18 – Crazy Hat Day
  • April 18 – 25 – May Pizza/Cookie Orders Open on School-Day
  • April 19 – Good Friday Holiday
  • April 22 – Easter Monday Holiday
  • April 29 – School Council Meeting

3. Rainy Day Reminder – If it is raining before school, we will ring the rain bell at 8:45 am, indicating that students can enter the school to be supervised inside. Students need to go to their regular entry door at the back of the school when they arrive. Even on rainy days, students should not be entering the school through the front doors and as usual, parents should say goodbye outside.

4. Are you Moving? – We are already working on developing the school organization for the 2019-2020 school year. To adequately plan and staff classrooms we need to have an accurate understanding of who will be attending our school in the fall. If you are moving, it is important to let us know. We also ask that you spread the word to any new families who are moving or have moved into our school community and ask them to contact the school as soon as possible. Accurate enrolment numbers in the spring help establish a smooth fall start-up and help to prevent a reorganization

5. HERO GEM UPDATE – We continue to work on showing Efficacy in April. We encourage you to talk with your child(ren) and come up with one small change they want to make and then plan to take one step at a time to make the change. It takes time to develop new habits so encourage your child to stick with the change. At school, students are often given assignments to complete. Students will be encouraged to persist to complete these tasks to the best of his/her ability, People with a strong sense of efficacy accomplish more because of their confidence and belief in their ability. Help them view difficult situations as challenges to overcome vs. threats to avoid.

Have a great week!
