Hello Parents,

Here are this week’s updates:

1. Jump to Pump – Jump to Pump will be taking place on May 17th! This is our annual fundraiser for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Students are encouraged to bring in a toonie to donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. All students will then skip (jump) during their gym period. For every toonie donated, students will receive a ballot for a chance to win one of the prizes in the front foyer display case.

2. Dress Code – As the weather warms up, here is a reminder of our school dress code:

  • Students are expected to come to school wearing clothing suitable to the season and respectful for our positive learning environment.
  • For safety, proper footwear must be worn at all times. Students should arrive at school wearing outdoor footwear appropriate for safe participation in outside activities and break times.

The following items are considered as inappropriate choices for school:

  • Tube tops or sheer tops, strapless tops, backless tops, low cut tops or tops with thin (spaghetti) straps, “muscle” shirts or tank tops with large arm holes
  • Very short shorts or skirts or very low rise pants (shorts and skirts need to be of an appropriate length (mid thigh) to cover the upper thigh area)
  • Hats inside the school building
  • Clothing with inappropriate statements or pictures such as, but not limited to: alcohol, tobacco or drug advertisements, derogatory, sexually suggestive, racist comments, etc

3. Scooter and Bike Safety – A reminder that scooters and bikes must be walked onto school property and safely locked in the bike racks before going around to the playground. Helmets must be worn when riding bikes and scooter – It is the law!

4. Little Ceasar Fundraiser – Students will have the chance to sell Little Ceasar’s Pizza Kits for our Spring Fundraiser. Envelopes for money collection and more information will be coming home on Monday May 13. Just a reminder that this fundraiser is per family not per student. The fundraiser will run from May 13 – 27. Thank you for helping to support this fundraiser!

5. HERO GEM UPDATE – We continue to focus on Hope during the month of May which is quite appropriate given that it is Mental Health Awareness month. Ask your child what Hope means to him/her.

  • May 27 – School Council Meeting at 6:00 pm in the Library

  • May 31 – PD Day – No school for students
