Hello Parents,

Here are this week’s updates:

1. Jump 2 Pump Total – Thank you for your support for Jump 2 Pump at Williamsburg. Together we raised $927.60 to donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation!

2. 2019/2020 Calendar – The 2019-20 School Year Calendar is now available. The calendar contains detailed holiday information, school start dates, PD Days, exam periods and EQAO assessments for the upcoming school year. 3. Books and Kits Due Back to School – A reminder to start looking through all your books at home. All Home Reading Books, Library Books, and Home Math Kits are due back to school by Friday, June 14th. We want to get everything sorted, organized and prepared for the next school year so we are grateful for your help with getting all books returned.

4. Pride Month – June is nationally recognized as pride month in Canada. Many institutions and organizations fly the Pride flag as a celebration of diversity. During the month of June, all Waterloo Region District School Board locations will fly the Pride flag alongside the Canadian flag. The Pride flag is a symbol for the LGBTQ+ community. Its colours, red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet represent life, healing, sunlight, nature, harmony and spirit. We believe that our schools are safe spaces for everyone that walks through our doors. Our strategic plan emphasizes that the well-being of all of our students and staff are met through a focus on equity and inclusion. Raising the Pride flag demonstrates this commitment to our students, staff, parents, caregivers and community members.

5. Are you moving? – We continue to work on developing the school organization for the 2019-2020 school year. To adequately plan and staff classrooms we need to have an accurate understanding of who will be attending our school in the fall. If you are moving, it is important to let us know and to register at the new school even if your child won’t be starting there until September. We also ask that you spread the word to any new families who are moving or have moved into our school community and ask them to contact the school as soon as possible. Accurate enrollment numbers in the spring help establish a smooth fall start-up and help to prevent a reorganization of classes in the first few weeks of school. We appreciate your help!

6. HERO GEM UPDATE – The end of May brings closure to our focus on Hope. In June our focus will switch to Respect. Stay tuned for more information.
