Hello Parents,

We have made it to our last day of school for the 2018-2019 school year!

Thank you for all you have done to help make this a successful year.

1. Departing Staff – We hope you will join us in saying Thank You and Good-Bye to the following staff. We wish them the very best as they pursue new challenges:

  • Mrs. Brooks
  • Mrs. deSoto
  • Mme. Ellis-Potier
  • Mrs. Gingrich – Happy Retirement!
  • Ms. Hallman
  • Ms. Li
  • Mrs. Jahn
  • Mme. Payette- maternity leave
  • Mrs. Petrie
  • Mr. Regier
  • Ms. Shantz
  • Mrs. Shaver
  • Mme. Zank

2. Important Information Regarding Class Lists – Waterloo Region District School Board is committed to keeping your children safe. To comply with privacy legislation, we have changed the way we communicate elementary students’ home classrooms. Once again this year, class lists will no longer be posted on the outside windows or doors of our school. Details about how to find your child’s class information can be found on the WRDSB website.

3. First Day Back Sept. 3rd:

Grade SK-6

On September 3rd (the first day back to school for grades SK-6 students), parents are asked to gather with their children on the tarmac at the back of the school. SK students will be on the Kindie Tarmac. Teachers will be holding up name signs. Students will find their teacher and line up with him/her. Once the bell rings at 9:00, classes will make their way into the school. Parents are asked to say good-bye on the tarmac as the hallways will be very busy with everyone entering at once.

A reminder that class lists will not be posted on doors and windows of the school this year. Instead you will be able to log in to School-Day starting Saturday, August 31st at noon to find out what class your child is in.

If you are not sure of your child’s class and teacher name, we will have a number of staff members available on the first day of school to help students find their classes (look for people with vests and clipboards!). We will have the tarmac labeled by grade so you can find the area for your child’s grade and then a teacher in that area will be able to look up your class information.

JK Students and NEW SK Students

Since we no longer have staggered entry for our Kindergarten students, all JK students and NEW SK students will start on September 3rd.

Please arrive between 9:20-9:45am to drop off your child. Do NOT leave your child outside.

Rm 41-45 – enter through the Kindergarten door (off of the Tarmac)

Rm 1 – enter through the main doors of the school. Check in at the office and then proceed to Rm 1.

Parents will work through a “check in process” at the classroom door with our staff to ensure that all students arrive safely.

Parents will receive more information in a letter coming home early in July.

4. Bus Information for Kindergarten Families – You can check to see if your kindergarten student is eligible for transportation by visiting the Student Transportation (STSWR) website: https://bpweb.stswr.ca/Eligibility.aspx?Page=Transportation and entering your home address.

STSWR will be sending a direct mail out to the families of Junior Kindergarten students that will be transported next year. Senior Kindergarten students will receive a postcard with Student Login Information. Letters and Postcards will be mailed out during the week of August 13th.

5. Are you moving? – Let us know immediately so we can ensure our enrollment numbers are updated.
