Hello Parents,

Here are this week’s updates:

1. Photos Arriving Soon – We are expecting student photo packages to be arriving soon to Williamsburg. This year, in an effort to reduce the amount of waste we generate, we are moving to a predominantly online ordering method. Students will receive their “proofs”, along with on-line ordering instructions. If you are not comfortable ordering on-line, you can request an order form and envelope. If you missed our first photo day or are not satisfied with the photos, there will be a photo re-take day on Thursday, October 24th.

2. Little Ceasar Fundraiser – Students will have the chance to sell Little Ceasar’s Pizza Kits for our Fall Fundraiser. Envelopes for money collection and more information will be coming home on Friday October 11. Just a reminder that this fundraiser is per family not per student. The fundraiser will run from Oct 11 – 25. Money raised from this fundraiser will go towards playground enhancements, field trips, and/or supporting a low income school partner! Please make cheques payable to the school. Thank you for helping to support this fundraiser!

3. New School Day Mobile Website – School-Day is pleased to announce the launch of a new enhanced mobile website for parents! To access the new website address please go to the following – https://school-day.app/#!/.

The new design is optimized for smaller screens and will make navigation on mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets much faster and easier. With this new release, parents can use their mobile device to purchase Products, Events, Services, Fees, and view Announcements and School Files. Additional features will be added gradually over the coming months!

4. Children’s Vision Month – October is Children’s Vision Month. Please see the attached information about the Eye See…Eye Learn Program https://www.school-day.com/pg/file/view/1594140

5. Hero Gems – Our focus in October is Resilience. We are encouraging students to pay attention to their word choices. They are encouraged to use positive language and have a growth mindset. For example, I can get better with practice vs I can’t do it!

6. Attendance – A reminder that the expectation for students is that they will be at school every day and will arrive on time. However, if your child is going to be absent or late, please call or email the Attendance Line (before school if possible) and leave a message including the following information:

  • The student’s name (please spell the last name)
  • The teachers name
  • The reason for the absence

7. Happy Thanksgiving! – This Monday is Thanksgiving Monday. We hope you enjoy some extra family time!

8. School Council – Join us for our next School Council Meeting on Monday, October 28th at 6:00 pm in the library. Everyone welcome!

9. October 31 – Spirit Day – Students are welcome to wear “an appropriate” costume. If students choose not to wear a costume, they are welcome to wear orange and black or to opt out and just come to school as they normally would – “Dress Like a Student”. (no weapons, masks, violent/scary costumes or costumes that are disrespectful to others)

  • October 14 – Thanksgiving Day Holiday. No School
  • October 17 to 24 – November Pizza Orders Open on School Day
  • October 21 – Federal Election Day. Williamsburg is a polling station.
  • October 24 – Photo Retake Day
  • October 25 – PD Day. No school for students
  • October 28 – School Council Meeting 6:00pm
  • November 11 – Progress Reports go home
  • November 15 – Parent – Teacher Interview afternoon
