PLEASE CLICK THE BLUE TITLE ABOVE TO READ THE FULL ARTICLE – Dear Williamsburg Parents/Guardians,
We hope that everyone is doing well and are enjoying lots of outdoor winter activities to help pass the cold weather season.
Our staff and students were recently surveyed regarding possible improvements to our school playground. We appreciated hearing the great suggestions and ideas that came forward. This informal survey information was then passed along to our School Greening Committee which consists of staff, students and parents. The next step will be to reflect upon the information and ideas received.
At our January School Council meeting we had many questions answered by Rob Seeley, WRDSB Grounds Foreman, which helped to formulate what types of improvements are viable to consider for our playground. After reflecting upon the WRDSB presentation some of the options that we can consider are as follows: planting large trees for shade, self-contained gardens/sandboxes, benches, tarmac games, equipment shed and play equipment for Grade 1-6 and existing butterfly garden improvements.
Parents, if you too have playground ideas that you would like the Committee to consider please write your suggestions on a piece of paper and forward to the office – “Attention: School Greening Committee” or send via e-mail to laurie_starra@wrdsb.on.ca.
Our School Council is committed to offering a March Move-A-Thon fundraising event on Friday, March 13th which can help to financially support some of these playground enhancements.
Thanks for taking the time to read this update and please look for more information to be shared in the near future!!
