Dear Williamsburg Students and Families,
We would like you to be aware of some upcoming events. As our April affirmation mentions, Williamsburg staff and students show respect for our school and the environment.
Williamsburg’s Earth Month Activities:
- Litterless Lunch Campaign begins April 20th
Students are encouraged to bring 3 or more reusable containers in their lunches every day until the end of the year! Our hope is to reduce our lunch waste at school. Students will still be able to recycle items and dispose of organic waste using the blue and green bins provided by our school.
- Earth Day Community Clean Up on April 22nd
Our Kindergarten to grade 3 classes will be helping to clean up garbage that is found on our school property. Grades 4 to 6 will have the opportunity to clean up our neighbourhood, specifically, the side streets around our school, the trail by the pond, crosswalk areas, the open green space beside Good Life and our community park. Students will be given gloves to wear for this clean up event and will be directly supervised by their teacher. We welcome parent volunteers to join us! Please stay tuned for more information!
- Walking Wednesdays begin on April 22nd
We are encouraging those who are able to walk, ride, skate or even run to school! Flare will be out to meet and greet families. Dust off your walking shoes and join us every Wednesday!
Sincerely,
ECO Environment Club 2014-2015 Junior Student Members, Mrs. J. Cain, Mrs. J. Feller and Ms. J. Strange
