2. Progress Reports
On November 14th, you will be receiving progress report(s) for your child(ren).  The progress report is an opportunity for teachers to reflect on how your child is progressing through the first 6 weeks of their curriculum.  Achievement reports will be sent home in February and will include marks as well as teacher comments.  Please review your child’s report and celebrate their many accomplishments and set goals with them in the areas where they can improve.

This is also a time for parents to meet with teachers to discuss student progress.

Our kindergarten classes will be participating in Parent Observation Days later in November.  Individual teachers will be in touch with our kindergarten families to schedule times for visits.

3. Random Act of Kindness Day
November 4th is Random Act of Kindness Day.  In our crazy, scheduled worlds, we don’t always take the time to slow down and reflect on how fortunate we are to live in a community such as ours. Random Act of Kindness Day is an opportunity to do something kind for someone else, to appreciate fellow citizens and for community building – it’s NOT about fundraising or giving money – just a day to celebrate kindness. Simple acts of kindness are endless; buy someone a coffee, congratulate someone on a job well done, offer to drive someone to an appointment, rake leaves for a neighbour or visit a seniors centre.  Here are some ideas for kids: hold the door open for someone, do a chore for someone without them knowing, tell a joke, return someone’s cart at the store, leave a letter in a library book, feed the birds, leave happy notes around town….and the list goes on!

4. Time Change – Fall Back
Don’t forget to turn your clocks back one hour on Saturday night for the “Fall Time Change.”

5. Poppies for Remembrance Day

Canadians are fiercely proud of our Veterans… and during the period leading up to Remembrance Day, millions of Canadians wear a Poppy as a symbol of national pride and respect, a visual pledge to never forget.

Students at Williamsburg will receive a poppy to wear on November 11th.  During the Poppy Campaign, thousands of Legion members from coast to coast to coast volunteer their time to distribute poppies and raise millions that will support Veterans and their families in need. While Poppies are distributed freely, the Legion truly appreciates the generous donations to the Poppy Fund in support of serving and retired Veterans and their families.

Donations to the Poppy Fund are welcome to be sent into school with your child. Thank you for wearing a Poppy and supporting Canada’s Veterans.

Have a great week!
