Hello Parents,

Here are this week’s updates:

1. Last Call for OCTOBER Pizza Orders – Pizza orders for each Thursday in October are due by today on School-Day. No late orders will be accepted. Also a reminder that any cash payments must be submitted in exact change to the office by 3:30 today. Unpaid orders cannot be processed. You are welcome to call the school office if you have any questions – 519-742-1848.

2. Time Change: Fall Back – Don’t forget to turn your clocks back one hour on Saturday night for the “Fall Time Change.” Enjoy your extra hour and the “gift of time!”

3. Progress Reports (Gr. 1-6) – On November 11th, you will be receiving a Progress Report(s) for your child(ren) in Grade 1-6 or a Communication of Learning: Initial Observation for Kindergarten Students. The reports provide an opportunity for teachers to reflect on how your child is progressing through the first 10 weeks of their curriculum. Please review your child’s report and celebrate their many accomplishments. We encourage you to set goals with them in the areas where they can improve.

Your child’s teacher will be sending a parent-teacher conference form home next week. Please be sure to complete and return the form as indicated.

Kindergarten teachers will be sending home a form so parents can sign up for a classroom observation. Please be sure to complete and return the form as indicated.

4. Scholastic Book Fair – Please take note of the dates for our upcoming annual Scholastic Book Fair. It will be taking place on Tuesday, November 12th and Wednesday, November 13th from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm and on Thursday, November 14th from 8:30 am to 7:00 pm in the library. Please mark this exciting literary event on your calendars. This is a great opportunity to shop for the holidays while promoting reading and raising money for our school library.

Volunteers are an important part of running our Book Fair and we still have a great need for them! If you are available to help out with the Book Fair, please contact Mrs. Branje at nelita_branje@wrdsb.ca or call the school. High school students needing volunteer hours are also welcome to help out at the Book Fair.

We look forward to seeing everyone at our Book Fair. Until then, happy reading!

5. Rainy Days – A reminder to parents that our entry procedures are the same on rainy days. Students are expected to arrive on time and to enter the school on their own, through their regular doors. If students are late, they MUST come to the office to sign in and get a late slip. Thanks for your help with this.

6. Bathrooms – Recently we have had some students putting items in the toilets in our student bathrooms. Please remind your child about the importance of respectful behaviour and hygiene in our bathrooms. Students need to remember to flush the toilets and wash their hands after using the bathroom, and to behave respectfully in these shared spaces. Thank you for your help in reinforcing these messages at home.

7. Hero Gems – This month our students have learned a lot about resilience. Please continue to talk with your child about the importance of overcoming challenges. Check out the attached link for a great video that was shared at our Kindergarten assembly yesterday. Stay tuned for a new HERO GEM trait in November!
